Palestinians Abroad: Weekend Roundup


Omar Jarun and Pogon Szczecin remain in 5th place, four points off the final Ekstraklasa promotion place. They drew 2-2 with fourth place LKS Lodz, Jarun got his customary 90 minutes marshaling the Pogon defence. Pogon face Górnik Zabrze, who are second and on pace to clinch the final promotion spot on 49 points, this Wednesday.
In France, Imad Zatara failed to make the Nîmes squad but played and scored in the reserve squad’s 3-1 win over Ajaccio. Les Crocos will be playing in Ligue 2 again next season, no word yet on whether or not they will pick up the two-year option on Imad’s contract.
Roberto Bishara captained Club Deportivo Palestino to a 3-0 win over La Serena to move out of the relegation zone for the first time since the second week of the season. Palestino now lie in 13th place on 16 points. The final game of the Chilean Apertura is next week. Roberto Bishara’s Palestino will face Edgardo Abdala‘s Huachipato (who drew 1-1 with Cobreloa this week). The Chilean season resumes in July with the start of the Clausura.
In Egypt… Ramzi Saleh has said he will make a decision regarding his future at the end of the season. If he does chose to leave Al-Ahly, he will most likely be headed to Ittihad Alexandria. Ramzi Saleh has not featured in any of Al-Ahly’s games this season but has been called up to face Bahrain on the 29th. He might get a chance to finally make his debut now that Al-Ahly have wrapped up yet another league title. Over in Nasr City, Mohammed Samara who has scored 4 goals from midfield this season, finds himself in the midst of a battle to stave off relegation. ِArab Contractors are two points above the final relegation spot with matches against ENPPI and Petrojet remaining.
