Palestine draw their opening match of the Asian Games
Palestine missed out on a great opportunity to take control of their own Asian Games destiny after a missed Ali El-Khatib penalty forced them to settle for a 0-0 draw with Jordan. The consensus from the Palestinian press is that Palestine were the stronger team and deserved to win this one. The Dinosaur expressed his disappointment in the draw but stated that chances to advance still remain. Palestine played with an unchanged 4-2-3-1 that featured:
Toufic Ali (GK); Shubietha, Barghouthi, Mustafa Abu Kweik, Sajid Karkara; Amjad Zidan, Wasim Aqab, Suleiman Obeid, Moh'd Abadi, Ali El-Khatib; Mohammed Jamal.
In the other match in this group a 10-man DPR Korea held on to win 1-0 over Korea Republic. The North Koreans have one of the more experienced squads in the tournament with 10 players having been on the World Cup squad this past summer.
