Palestine jets off to Doha training camp

Maher, Maraba, and More… Youth given a chance in preliminary Challenge Cup Squad.

With a doubleheader of friendlies against Pakistan cancelled earlier this month, Al-Fidai will turn their attention to a 12-day preparatory camp with the aim of building fitness levels and increasing cohesion.

With the WBPL season ending two weeks ago a larger group of thirty players trained daily under the auspices of the national team staff. Two scrimmages against the Olympic team were used to formulate the final squad and newcomers Hilal Musa and Sameh Mar’aba’s goals were enough to prolong their tryout with the national team. Other fresh faces come in the form of defenders Mahmoud Dayfallah, Abdullah Jaber, and attacking midfielder Tamer Syam.

Also joining the side will be two foreign-based players: Mohammed Qasim (Al-Ittihad/Libya) and Ibrahim Swidan (Tripoli/Lebanon) who were also part of the 2014 WAFF Championship side.

The PFA did not announce a full itinerary but it is expected that the National Team will continue onwards to Sri Lanka for the second phase of preparations after the culmination of this training camp.
