Palestine bows out of Asain Beach Games

Palestine looks so much better in green.

Palestine’s first foray into beach football garnered them an impressive 7-3 win over Vietnam. Six of the goals scored came from former National Team fullback Hamada Shbair. He’s not the only familiar face in the squad, Saeb Jendeya, ex-captain of the national team with over 70 caps is also part of the team.

Palestine did not qualify out of its group after losing narrowly to Bahrain (2:0) and China (5:4) but Shbair’s nine goals make him the leading scorer so far. When asked to comment Shbair said:
“I hate defending… I would rather play forward as much as I can. I play in defence for the national team but I would rather score goals.”

Brilliant.
