FIFA takes no action on Timor Leste player eligibility scandal

The big news in regards to Asian World Cup qualifying this month is that Kuwait has finally been punished for government interference in football. A 3-0 win awarded to Myanmar could potentially change the makeup of the final round.

It had been anticipated that FIFA would finally take action against Timor Leste whose naturalization tactics had made several prominent media outlets, including Vice Sports, the Huffington Post, and the New York Times.

Controversially, FIFA has remained silent despite a Timorese government investigation concluding that the players were awarded citizenship in a manner not in accordance with the constitution.
