PFA announce Yemen friendly

Yemen will be playing their Asian Cup qualifying games in Doha

Ahead of their opening game of 2019 AFC Asian Cup qualifying. The PFA has revealed that it will spar with fellow West Asian side Yemen in Doha.

The encounter is slated for March 22nd with no information on kickoff times as of yet.

Palestine won the last encounter 2-1 courtesy of goals from Ashraf Nu’man and Ismail Al-Amour in Sana’a. The two teams have only met one other time- a 3-1 reverse for Palestine at the 2010 WAFF Championship.

Yemen have experienced an understandable dip in form that has coincided with political instability in the country. Their record since last meeting Palestine stands at 6-8-28. That said, half their wins have come in the last 18 months- including a result that effectively ended Philippines’s chances of advancing to the next round of World Cup qualifying.

The two staffs could use this encounter to exchange notes on their upcoming opposition. Yemen beat Maldives by twin 2-0 score lines to navigate a route back to Asian Cup qualifying while Palestine’s most recent friendlies came against Yemen’s first opponent in Asian Cup qualifying- Tajikistan.
